The backdrop helps tell the story.
Downtown, wildflowers, water, wide-open fields, your school, or somewhere that means something to you. Let's find a setting that feels like you.

Where Should We Go?
You don't need to know the answer yet.
Start by thinking about how you want your photos to feel, not necessarily a specific address.
Do you love the idea of downtown streets and brick buildings?
Are you more at home barefoot by the water?
Maybe there's a family property or favorite place that already means something to you.
We'll use that as our starting point..

Locations That Feel Like You

Nature
Fields, tall grass, trees, trails, and plenty of room to explore.

Downtown
Brick, alleys, architecture, sidewalks, and a little more edge.

Seasonal
Wildflowers, fall color, spring blooms, and whatever nature gives us.
Water
Creeks, riverfronts, beaches, docks, and maybe getting a little wet.

School + Sports
Fields, courts, gyms, tracks, stadiums, and places connected to your senior year.

Meaningful
Places
Family farms, grandparents' property, your hometown, or somewhere that already holds memories.
These can either link to examples or simply be visual inspiration.
Meaning Beats "Pretty"
A location doesn't have to be Instagram-famous to make incredible photos.
Sometimes your grandparents' backyard, the field you've driven past every day, the basketball court you've spent years on, or the little downtown where you grew up means more than the "perfect" photo location ever could.
If there's somewhere that's part of your story,
tell me about it.

A Few Things That Photograph Really Well

COLOR
Solid colors are always a great starting point. Neutrals, earth tones, jewel tones, pastels, and bold colors can all photograph beautifully.
The most important part? Make sure the color looks good on you.

TEXTURE + LAYERS
Denim, sweaters, jackets, leather, knits, flannels, cardigans, and other textures add interest without making an outfit feel busy.
Layers also give us easy ways to change a look without a full outfit change.

ACCESSORIES
Jewelry, hats, belts, watches, boots, jackets, sunglasses, and other accessories can take a simple outfit and make it feel finished.
You don't need a lot. A few intentional pieces can make a big difference.
Details Matter
Sometimes it's the little things you don't notice until they're in a photograph.
Make sure clothes are clean and wrinkle-free. Check shoes, especially if they'll be visible. Think about bra straps and undergarments with lighter or fitted clothing. Remove hair ties from wrists before the session.
And yes, if you have pets, bring a lint roller.
Dog hair has a supernatural ability to find black clothing five minutes before photos.
Before You Commit to an Outfit...

MOVE IN IT

Sit down. Walk. Bend. Raise your arms.
If you're fighting your clothes at home, you'll fight them during photos.

CHECK EVERY ANGLE

Look at the front, back, and sides.
Make sure you feel good from more than one angle.

DON'T FORGET THE SHOES

Your shoes are part of the outfit.
Make sure they're clean and actually work with the look.

YOU > TRENDS

If you feel incredible in it, that matters more to me
than whether it's currently trending.

You should look at your senior photos and recognize yourself.
Not a trend.
Not somebody else's style.
You.

Hair, Makeup & Grooming

Keep this SHORT because this isn't a beauty manual.
You don't need professional hair or makeup unless that's something you want.
The goal is to look like yourself on a really good day.
Try to avoid major hair changes, brand-new skincare products, aggressive facials, or experimental spray tans immediately before your session. Clean nails, moisturized lips, tidy facial hair, and hair that feels like you are really all we need.

Outfit Checklist

✅ Choose outfits that actually feel like you.
✅ Give yourself some variety instead of bringing several nearly identical looks.
✅ Try everything on before picture day.
✅ Sit, walk, and move around in each outfit.
✅ Check your shoes and accessories for every look.
✅ Steam or iron anything that's wrinkled.
✅ Check undergarments with light-colored or fitted clothing.
✅ Remove tags, stickers, and temporary stitching.
✅ Clean jewelry, glasses, and shoes if needed.
✅ If you're stuck between two outfits, bring both. We can decide together.

When in Doubt, Bring It

Can't decide between two shirts?
Bring both.
Wondering if the jacket will work?
Bring it.
Not sure whether we need the boots and the sneakers?
Throw them in the car.
I'd much rather have options and not use something than be standing in the middle of a field wishing we'd brought it.

Wear something that makes you feel good.
Everything else is just details.
